The recently released Frozen Synapse is a sweet, sweet game. Here are my first impressions, and a recap of my first multiplayer match with Winter.

On MMOs...

I used to play MMOs a lot. Quite a lot. So much so that matador created a unit of time called a Watomir (based off one of my characters in LotRO) that roughly correlates to the time required for one of my characters to gain a level. Where the other lads might have 1 or 2 characters, I would often have 4 or 5, 1 of them that would strictly play with them, one around matadors alts level and then a couple more that might be of a similar level or generally higher. Other characters would be levelling at some percentage of a Watomir (as an aside, rabbits broke through the Watomir barrier and was levelling at 1.5 Watomirs in Killing Floor).

Did I always play so few games? I remember playing more but then I could be wrong. I think I own more and have more installed on my computer than at any time in the past due to the increasing size of my hard drive but I seem to be only playing two.

Every Tuesday night is our weekly gaming night (Tuesday Gaming Night) where all the lads get together and play a game for a couple of hours or so. We can't all always make it, but generally try and keep that time free to try out some co-op games. We've played DDO (works well for this kind of thing), L4D2 and continuing the zombie killing action the game for the past couple of months has been Killing Floor. On the surface, KF is a fairly simplistic first person shooter, but beneath that veneer there is actually quite a lot of depth to it.

Late in November I started playing WoW again. I don’t know why but it was something that had been niggling for a while. I think it started when I finally got into playing DDO. When I stated playing DDO I really wasn’t that into it, but with the boys playing and a regular Tuesday night gaming session on offer I couldn’t say no.
